Joe Lee mapped out this a new 18-hole challenge in 1975 with his trademark fairway bunkers strategically situated . The course plays through some of Jekyll Island's most pristine lakes and marshes. Lee named it Indian Mounds after the large oyster shell middens deposited by aboriginal tribes hundreds of years prior to settlement by Europeans. Indian Mound, like Jekyll's other courses, is free of residential or commercial development, and as such provides the golfer with a delightful confluence of wild flora and fauna. Indian Mound and Jekyll Island Golf Club is the official host for the annual US Kids Golf Jekyll Island Cup. |
