SPRING LAKE, N.C. – Joey
Sindelar, defending champ of the PGA Tour’s Wachovia Championship, will
conduct a free golf clinic and play a nine-hole exhibition match at Anderson
Creek Golf Club on Tuesday, May 3.
The event is titled “Tee to Green with Joey,” and is sponsored by
Sprint. It is open to the public free of charge.
“This is a wonderful
opportunity for local golf fans to rub elbows with a PGA Tour professional, and
just days before he defends his Wachovia Championship title at Quail Hollow in
Charlotte,” said Anderson Creek director of golf Jon Hockaday. “This is
something we’ve wanted to schedule for quite some time because Joey is a
minority owner in the club. The timing couldn’t be better.”
The day begins with a clinic at 12:15 p.m. on the practice tee. At 1 p.m.,
Joey will play a nine-hole exhibition match on the back nine of the Davis Love
III designed course at Anderson Creek. In the match, Joey will partner with a
representative of Sprint, the event sponsor, to face off against Anderson
Creek’s professional staff. The format will be two-person scramble, with
associate sponsors joining both teams on the greens for putting.
There is no charge for the day, and folks are allowed to bring cameras and
items to be autographed.
