Siegel's 67 Puts Him Atop Field at Tarheel Tour's Multiple Directory Services Classic
INDIAN TRAIL, N.C. -  By Craig Distl - Charlotte's David Siegel shot a bogey-free 67 Wednesday to move into first place in the Tarheel Tour's Multiple Directory Services Classic at Charlotte National. Siegel, who birdied five of the first 13 holes, has only one bogey in the tournament and stands at eight-under 136 entering the final round.
David Mathis of Raleigh matched Siegel's 67 on Wednesday to vault from a 12th-place tie into second place at 138. Mathis birdied three of the last five holes and shares second with Joey Maxon of Denver, N.C. Maxon was two over on the front nine before recording four birdies on the back to shoot 70 and jump into second at 138.
Charlotte's Brett Boner, who shot 69, is alone in fourth at 139, while Kevin Taylor of Mocksville and Josh Dickinson of Matthews are tied for fifth at 140.
The field of 67 was cut to the top 23 for Thursday's final round, which begins at 10:30 a.m.
