Adams, who gained a six-shot lead with the eagle, fired 67 to finish the 54-hole event at 13-under 203. The former ECU standout posted a seven-stroke victory over Pinehurst's Andy Bare. Bare, who starred at UNC Greensboro, shot 70 and collected $5,000 for second place. "That eagle was a good feeling after four-putting the final hole in the dark (Tuesday)," Adams said. "That definitely helped get me going. I really worked hard over the winter and made some changes to become more consistent. It finally started clicking this week." Huntersville's Matt Cannon, the all-time Tarheel Tour money leader, fired a 68 to jump into a tie for third place at 213 with Chris Wisler of Dover, Del. Both earned $2,750. David Sanchez of Pinehurst, Jason Hickman of Ft. Myers, Fla., and Greensboro's Ryan Gioffre shared fifth place at 217, earning $1,750 apiece. The Tarheel Tour returns to action next week with the Rocky River Classic, April 5-7 at Rocky River Golf Club in Concord, N.C. |
