Twelve Advance From US Kids World Qualifier at Rocky River

CONCORD, N.C. -- U.S. Kids Golf hosted a world qualifer at Rocky River Golf Club on Monday, with 12 juniors from a field of 81 earning bids to the 2006 U.S. Kids Golf World Championship in Pinehurst.
To qualify, golfers had to win first place in their age group on the challenging layout at Rocky River. All golfers played from junior tees that were set up in the fairways to accommodate their age groups.
In the Boys 12 division, Grayson Murray of Raleigh finished first by firing a two-under 70. The Boys 11 winner was Victor Wiggins of Gastonia, who shot 73. In the Girls 12 division, Collins Bradshaw of Columbia, S.C., took top honors with a nine-hole score of 41. The Girls 11 winner was Katelyn Dambaugh of Goose Creek, S.C., who shot 45.
Kyle Austin of Mebane was the Boys 10 winner with a 35, while Keenan Huskey of Greenville, S.C., was the Boys 9 winner with a 34. Christina Foster of Summerville, S.C., fired a four-under 32 to win the Girls 10 title, while Macy Cochran of Evans, Ga., won the Girls 9 division with a 43.
In the Boys 8 division, Kevin Sowinski of Greensboro took first with a 42, while Mitchell Jones of Greensboro won the Boys 7 division with a 33. The Boys 6 and Under winner was Cody Transou of Gaffney, S.C., who shot 33.
Catherine Allred of Pfafftown took the Girls 8 and Under title with a 62.
Next up for the winners is the U.S. Kids World Championship, July 26-30 in Pinehurst.
