The phrase "hidden gem" is often over-used to hype an older course of notable design, but this course truly is a rare treasure tucked into the mountains of Western North Carolina. Nestled among the meadows and mountainside, Laurel Ridge features an 18-hole championship golf course that has been carved into the Smoky Mountains. Fast, undulating greens, lush tree-lined fairways and spectacular panoramic views highlight the course. The course was designed by Robert Cupp, Jack Nicklaus' chief designer for 14 years, and offers every challenge expected of a mountain course, yet does it with a delicate balance of fairness and playability.  The scratch golfer can bite off as much of a challenge as he can chew from the back tees at 6904 yards, while four other sets of tees allow golfers to choose positions based on their level of play.  You may not shoot your career best here, but you will remember every hole and have more fun than at most other courses.
