Sapelo Hammock is located on a scenic bluff overlooking oak-lined fairways and lush, undulating greens. The course was the first solo effort of designer Rusty Simmons and was built in 1999 along 200 acres of marshes, live oaks and loblolly Pine filled land. Located just off the scenic Sapelo River, the course offers so many natural views without the clutter of houses crowding the fairways. This course is suitable for walking amid an abundance of natural beauty and wildlife, including deer, osprey, wading birds, hawk, alligators, and foxes. Many holes skirt or incorporate tidal marshes in the play of a hole. Only 35 minutes from Jekyll Island and 50 minutes from Savannah through low-country Georgia. You will pass several outstanding restaurants and other local businesses, so plan to take time to enjoy some outstanding local cuisine and shopping opportunities. |
