Review |
Tega Cay is "target golf" personified. You are constantly challenged to position your tee shot for the next shot, where the choice between the driver and an iron often makes the difference between a par and triple bogey. This is because 1/2 of the fairways on the Pines or Cove you can hit through, trees, OBs bracket both sides and there are extreme elevation changes. This course is a true test of your mental game particularly if you can hit the ball long off the tee. This course is designed like The Pit in Pinehurst and many holes remind me of Pine Valley, NJ. For this reason, and the fact that it is the only 27 hole course around, it is unique in the Charlotte area. For some reason the name of the architect is not published on the scorecard. This is very unusual since I consider the new Grande View to be one of the best in the Carolinas. What's in a name anyway. In any case you do not have to travel to Pinehurst or NJ of find this kind of championship golf.
